Empowering Haitians
Through Education
Welcome to Haitian Hope, where every child's potential is nurtured through education. Join us as we create a brighter future for the children of Trouin, Haiti.
Our mission is to help the children of Trouin, Haiti, become more productive and self-sufficient citizens upon the realization of specified educational requirements established by Haitians for Haitians.
Education for a Brighter Future
Since 2004, Haitian Hope has partnered with the people of the small mountain village of Trouin in the southwestern peninsula of Haiti. We believe that education can empower this impoverished rural village, and that long-term relationships are essential to the success of our work together.
Our mission is to provide quality education to the children of Trouin. We do this by funding the teachers’ salaries, providing school supplies, uniforms, and supplying meals for students and teachers. We also work with the community to build and maintain the school facilities.
Haitian Hope is a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit with 100% of donations going directly to the work in Trouin. We are grateful for the support of our generous donors and partners, who help us make a real difference in the lives of the people of Trouin.
Ready to take the next step?
As the 2023 school year commences, St. Marc's School in Trouin opens its doors to increased enrollment, welcoming families seeking refuge from the capital's gang violence. With gratitude, the principal acknowledges the school's ability to operate amidst widespread closures, and together, we pray for God's continued blessings upon the staff and students.
“Haitian Hope is the breath for Saint Marc School: Thank you Lord; thank you Lord, thank you Lord.”
— Père Mondesir
Children without access to education are the most likely to live in extreme poverty as adults. The average Haitian has less than five years of schooling.
At Haitian Hope, we prioritize transparency and accountability in every aspect of our work. To ensure this, we require St. Marc to submit routine reports with photos documenting the use of donor funds. Additionally, we make frequent visits to Trouin to strengthen our relationships and witness how the funds are being utilized. Though our ability to travel has been impeded by COVID-19 and civil unrest, we look forward to returning to Trouin as soon as possible.
